Chile Hut Based Level 2: August 12-15, 2017

August 12 @ 8:00 am - August 15 @ 5:00 pm

$500

This course covers all the information in a standard AIARE Level 2 Course, but uses a real backcountry ski hut in Chile for a classroom! Class sizes are smaller and more intimate in hut-based courses and you have the added advantage of being able to apply your new knowledge immediately as well as being able to completely immerse yourself in the course curriculum.  The AIARE Level II course is a 4-day program that provides backcountry leaders and aspiring snow professionals  the opportunity to advance their avalanche knowledge and decision making skills.  The Level II builds from the introductory avalanche hazard management model introduced in the level one and adds to it the evaluation of factors critical to stability evaluation.

We will use the hut (refugio) facilities of Los Paraguas

Nico’s family take care of cooking and preparing Breakfasts, lunch sacks, and dinners.

How to get to Los Paraguas?

Denver/Houston/San Francisco/Los Angeles/New York/Miami/Dallas/ to Santiago-Chile

From Santiago-Chile folks can fly (Sky Airlines or Lan Airlines), take a bus, or rent a car to Temuco. I recommend arranging for Nico to take care of transportation from Temuco to Los Paraguas. It should be easy to coordinate to have the US folks transported to Malalcahuello so that they can ski Corralco Ski Resort  and access their VERY extensive backcountry skiing terrain.
